About Rodney Wyatt Associates LTD
Independent Specialist Surveyor for Damp & Timber
Independent Damp and Mould Surveyor
Member of the Property Care Association and an Associate Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers
I have been involved in the building industry all my working life, originally attending the Bristol College of Technology and Taunton Technical College part-time for 4 years. In the fullness of time I set up my own construction company, building new homes and renovating and converting old stone farm buildings into domestic dwellings. During this time I became interested in remedial damp-proofing and timber treatment. This led me on to set up a specialist company for damp and timber treatments. Following a continuous period of study I was awarded the C.T.I.S. and C.R.D.S. followed by the C.S.R.T. awarded by British Wood Preserving and Damp-proofing Association now known as the Property Care Association. My company became full members of the P.C.A.
I subsequently decided to cease trading with the Construction Company in favour of damp and timber treatments etc. The new preservation company has been established now for some twenty-five years and in 2009 it was time to move on and sell the company to a new owner. I continued working for my old company for a further year as their senior surveyor.
Having taken time out, I then set up an independent surveying practice offering specialist surveying to home owners, landlords and the building industry, dealing principally with damp investigation, timber infestation, underground water proofing and defective cavity wall tie surveys.
I have subsequently been awarded the C.S.T.D.B. and A.C.A.B.E.
The Property Care Association and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers require that members carry out “Continuing Professional Development” (C.P.D.)
CPD is a requirement of the qualifications C.S.T.D.B. and A.C.A.B.E. and can help reflect, review and document learning and to develop and update professional knowledge and skills.
CPD is required for a code of conduct and a code of ethics. But at its core it is a personal responsibility of professionals to keep their knowledge and skills current so that they can deliver the high quality of service that safeguards the public and meets the expectations of customers and the requirements of their profession.
